Polkadot Africa Technical Content Bounty

This bounty aims to curate high-quality niche knowledge useful for the Polkadot ecosystem.

Where to start?

The best way to start is by setting up your wallet, creating your on-chain identity (optional), and reading the light paper.

A prerequisite if you want to contribute to the bounty is to go through Diataxis. This equips you with a framework for creating good documentation.

Choosing a topic you want to write about.

The available topics are outlined below. You can click on them to the respective GitHub issues that have more info.

There are different tags for different types of content.

Tutorials: These are lessons with practical activities designed to teach the user some skills as they participate. An example would be "Create a DNS contract from scratch with ink!” This is a guideline for what we'd be expecting.
How-to Guides are clear instructions on how to do something specific. Though they may seem similar to tutorials, the distinction is that they are targeted toward practical problems users might want to solve quickly while trying to complete a task at work or while using a product. An example would be "How to create a custom token on the Polkadot network.” This is a guideline for what we'd be expecting.
Explanations: These are expected to be discussions of concepts that provide understanding. An example would be "A deep dive into what Polkadot is and why it was built.” This is a guideline for what we'd be expecting.

How To Start Contributing

Note: Membership in our Discord community and being a follower of our X account are required for your application to be considered.

Pick a topic, follow the resources provided to help you in your research, write using the provided outlines, and get paid! You can do both write-ups and videos for the same topic.

Application Form for Technical Content Bounty

Important Note Before Submitting a Bounty

Generally, each listed bounty topic will be open for submission for a period of 4 weeks. After the 4 weeks, they will move into the “Reviewing” phase during which the submissions will be evaluated and a bounty winner selected. The reviewing process could take up to 2 weeks.

Before attempting a bounty, you are required to get familiar with relevant sections of this framework: Diátaxis Documentation Framework.

This framework is essential as it provides a clear understanding of the structure and purpose of well-organized documentation. By familiarizing yourself with these concepts, you'll be better equipped to create meaningful, user-centric contributions that align with the expectations of the Polkadot Africa bounty.

Please keep in mind:

Article submissions are expected to be done with Google Docs, with the ability for judges to comment.

Video submission are expected to be done with Google Drive, with the ability for judges to comment.

Not everyone who makes a submission will be rewarded. This is not a reflection of your potential or abilities but simply a matter of finding the best match for the specific requirements of the bounty.

Pitch A Topic:

You can also pitch a topic to us via email ([email protected]). Ensure that your pitch contains the title, content type, rationale for suggesting it, scope, goals, audience and an outline of planned of contents. If your pitch is accepted, you will be given the go-ahead to create the content. Please send your pitch in a Google Doc, and modify the permission so anyone with the link can comment. This would make it easier to share and give feedback. Outlined below are categories we would like the topics to fall within:
